Re: I just bought today a Xantia 3.0 V6 Exclusive
The radio code is sometimes written in the margin of the user guide. The code is available from the Citroen corporate database for a fee, but usually the supplying dealer kept a copy for their own use when servicing the vehicle, and often this was added to the dealer service history database and can be obtained free of charge from a friendly dealer.
A well kept Xantia V6 is indeed a pleasure to drive.

Well I raised the car today to the highest point... and there is no leak what so ever on the ground. Bone dry tiles.
The car's frame underneith is dry too.
I would think someone must have filled the system up incorrectly in the past etc?
Just to make sure the orange disk must be in between the marked lines right?
The radio still shows -- -- -- --
I do have the radio code.
The car came with the owners manual and the radio manual and the code is written in there.
I think the radio must be like the Ford ones... you have to have it on for 2hrs before it resets and ask for the code again?

Re: I just bought today a Xantia 3.0 V6 Exclusive
On an S1 radio you press the buttons 1,2,3 and 4 to change the numbers. 1 changes the first dash, 2 the second etc. if the codes 1234 you press one once, two twice etc. When the codes on screen you press 6 to submit it. When you put the wrong code in and it does its 2hr lockout thing I think it either goes blank or says code. I'm not sure if the S2 is the same but it's worth a try.
Re: I just bought today a Xantia 3.0 V6 Exclusive
And I found the leak ....
It is on the pump it self.
Will that be a case of just tightening.?
This is with the suspension all the way up. Just took a picture for the reference.

Re: I just bought today a Xantia 3.0 V6 Exclusive
Auto s**t per chance.....
That looks like my old one that i was sad to see go
Fix the leak but also look to clean the alternator out before the LHM kills it.
IDeally if you can i'd take the chance to get the radiator out, flush the cooling system and then take off the pump and reseal it. All the seals are about £15 IIRC from citroen and can still be obtained so worth taking off cleaning and doing, this then allows the alternator to come off and be cleaned out properly with contact cleaner as well. For such a car its worth the time doing and getting the cooling system flushed is worth it as the V6's do get upto temp quickly

Will tell you in the manual how to input the code - you have to press the band button first I think or something. But if wrong code has been entered it may need an on period to re-set.
Leak really requires removal of the pump so that you can remove the plug and fit a new O-ring. It's not such a bad job really.

Re: I just bought today a Xantia 3.0 V6 Exclusive
The coolant container is nice and clean and the fluid is nice green in there. Radiator does not seem that old in my eyes.
Even the exhaust cat to back ... is all new (couple of yrs old).
The car does seem to have had a good maintenance through out the years. A shame I have no records of it.
When I come back from holidays I will be looking to remove the suspension pump and work on the seals.
Is there any DIY link for it?
Cheers

V6 pumps are rare as hens teeth, DO NOT wreck it
....however that looks like a seal leak as the others have said.
You can tell a V6 pump as it is the only one with a removable pulley wheel.

Re: I just bought today a Xantia 3.0 V6 Exclusive
That is the normal and very common pump seal leak and just needs a new O ring fitted under the big hexagon of the delivery port... No need to remove the pump to do it.. (Thank goodness)
I can supply the part number of the O ring when I'm back home..
One thing, remove the bolts securing the first three 'P' Clips on the pipe so that it can easily be moved out of the way before undoing the big hexagon... Be prepared for a biggish spill of LHM...
One thing to watch is the alternator as Will says. It may now be very damp with LHM and ideally needs to come off and have a good clean once the pump is proved dry... A wet alternator die if not dealt with.
It's not a hugely difficult job even though it looks to be...
Worth doing as V6 alternators are expensive...

Sorry for barging in. Looks like the seal has been leaking for a long time. I also noticed the LHM level is a bit high.
4026 88 Hyd oil o-ring 03 Press pump 6+2 + non-sinking, Improved 6+2 press pump
DIAM 19-TO 2,4
That's what you need. I did replace the O-ring twice. First time was not successful
Be gentle with the pipe seal. Don't use force to tighten it or the next time you need to take the pump off!

If you lack a handbook I'm pretty sure I took a digital copy of mine which I would be happy to share if that would be handy.

Thirded! I had a run-in with the stuffed shirts on that site, so it's nice to see the good members on here.
Re: I just bought today a Xantia 3.0 V6 Exclusive
Yep for a Series 2 V6 radio you have to hold down the BND button then the --- will change to CODE, then just enter the numbers directly.RichardW wrote:Will tell you in the manual how to input the code - you have to press the band button first I think or something. Having changed the top o-ring on my pump in-situ on the car I would never again do it that way - far too awkward and difficult, and then you have only changed the top o-ring not the bottom one. (Although for some reason the top ones start leaking first...)Leak really requires removal of the pump so that you can remove the plug and fit a new O-ring. It's not such a bad job really.
As long as you have a big bench vice that can hold the pump I would take the pump right out and do it on the bench, that also makes cleaning up the mess below much easier.
Very nice V6 - mine had done just under 65000 when I got it and is now up to 72000!
