Subframe removal

Hi All,

I've started to dismantle the car to get subframe out no issues but How to question :?:

How do you access the bolt on which secures the gear linkage to subframe, the access is poor.

Well success subframe off, I didn't find it a hard job but awkward.

Had to remove the safety valve with the angle grinder but this is not savageable rusted up bad. Only the four pipes on the safety valve to replace but with more space I'm checking over the other pipes and may change others if signs of rust.

The weather has intervened so will have to wait to end of the week to continue.

Has anyone got a break down diagram for the safety valve as I have managed to remove the pipe ends from the unit.

Well folks I have got the subframe back on, now for the piping.

Question Does anybody have a photo or diagram of the route of the pipes for the power steering pinion ?

As I'm waiting on the final 2 pipes to arrive and the hydraflush

A big shock today NO rain!!!!!!!!

Well I've fitted all the pipes apart from the brake pipes onto the car.

Awaiting the other pipes and fill up the system.

Hi All,

Well it appears one of the original pipes has been damaged when fitting in the factory and will not screw on (jumping off thread). Block connector not damaged.

Going to get M7 x 1 mm die and try to rethread same other wise pipe off and replace with new.

Going to fit all the other pipes at height corrector and refit brake cables.

Hopefully evrything will go well.

That's a bit of a headache Kenny.. Hope the die works.. It should do.. M7 is an odd size. I trust you can find a source. eBay worked for me when I needed an M7 tap...

Well rebuild complete and no leaks so far.

But 2 problems

1. Unfortunately I had to move the clamp on anti roll bar to fit onto dog bone and has knock height out. I can't seem to set the ride height :?:

2. the stop light and temp light is flashing, what causes this :?:

Excellent Kenny, just minor problems :D

The adjustment of the height corrector is unbelievably critical. With the dogbone off will the front go high and low on the lever? If s then you know the hydraulics are basically OK.

The Stop and temperature light being on is normally a problem with the Brown BITRON sensor on the thermostat housing or the BITRON ECU that controls the cooling fans. Check the connections to both in the first instance...

Thanks Jim,

Fixed height problem it was the height lever rod would appear to have been stuck a quick wiggle and it worked.

I must admit when I started the car the fan came on straight away but I wasn't thinking about the sensors.

Jim can confirm if the HDi has a brown sensor. I know my TD did.

The other piece of good news the normal bubble flares are working fine but I think if they are over tightened there will be leaks.
