Quick clutch question

Post by superloopy »

My daughters C1 had a new dealer fitted clutch including bearing less than a year ago. She now has a constant chirping, whistling type noise which will disappear when she depresses the clutch pedal a short distance and obviously during gear changes. Does this sound like an iffy thrust bearing??

Thanks Jim ... thought as much. I'm hoping to sort this out with the garage tomorrow as the work is still within warranty. She's done 11k in 11 months on the new clutch.

That's no mileage at all Mike... How long did the old one last?

You've got a vested interest asking that question eh ... just under 60k. Not that bad considering that was on the older, smaller, now superceded original clutch. She's driving a 57 plate C1 Cool just mot'd yesterday with no advisories alrhough the guy did say she had a coolant leak from radiator. We'll look at that next.

Yes Mike, I do but then mine is late enough to have the bigger one.. 60K is about 15 years away for me on current mileage!!!

The job looks easy enough though if I ever need to do it... I can live with doing a clutch every 15 years...
