Unfortunately not.

I'm going to be a father again in the next couple of weeks so spare time is going to be a bit lacking for the foreseeable future!

Shame really, I'd quite like to make a living jet-setting around Europe with my trusty welder doing nothing but repairing rusty Xantia door jams.

Thanks for the compliments, I'm really chuffed with how it has turned out. I wish I had taken photos before and during the work so you could see how bad it was.
Juliet- yours is not bad at all in comparison but if it is left to fester (mines been getting crustier for a good three years) then unfortunately the sill will be the next thing to rust (and it goes from the inside-out).
Any trustworthy bodyshop will be able to sort this out but just make sure that they cut away that spot-welded section where the quarter panel meets the sill to do it. Anything else is just like sticking a plaster over it.

I'll be ordering Dinitrol today. Did you find much mud etc. in the area, did you have to 'dig it out'?

Those spot welds and the 'rough edges' are still bugging me, have been wondering if the car had a bad rear shunt in it's first four years and both back wings were replaced. Guess I'll never know

Did you find much mud etc. in the area, did you have to 'dig it out'?

No. It was all clean inside, just rusty, so if there's any moisture getting in and causing it it must be clean rain water from somewhere. My theory is that water is drawn into the joint from the door shut area by capillary action. The joint is not completely sealed so it makes a bit of sense.
I cleaned out the inner arch (which was filthy) but I couldn't find any holes for mud, water or whatever to get through into the pillar and sill. (While I was under there I also took out the plastic liner then unbolted the fuel filler pipe and dropped it down. I'm now confident that this wheel arch is mud free.)

I understood that the area was filled with a foam insert on some cars which was holding water like a sponge. Paul (citroenxm) did take one apart ... there's pics on here somewhere.

I read Paul's thread on this and as I recall the foam is on the earlier series 1 cars.

I really expected the area to be full of mud, or something holding the moisture. Haven't inspected mine through the hole in the wheel arch yet, thought I wait until I have the Dinitrol to hand so if it's not too bad I can do the treatment at the same time.

I wonder if it has something to do with those plastic protector strips that are on the rear wing just at the lower rear corner of the door, I've just removed mine since although still intact they had turned a muddy brown colour, perhaps they stop water running away in that area and allow the capillary action Lenny suggests. For the life of me I cannot work out the purpose of the 'protectors'
