Hi,
Wonder if some here can help out with a problem with my cooling fan?
Its been running constantly when idling or when doors open, local Citroen specialist diagnosed my car and found a fault, he originally quoted for replacement of a switch (relay???) only - However when I came to book it in for the repair (had a gap of a couple weeks due to another problem getting sorted out) they have came back and said that they can only get a whole fan unit from Citroen as the switch is not sold separately, (costing a few hundred plus the extra labour compared to approx. £16 for a switch only) this seems a bit strange as the original quote for a switch only was based on a part number and price given to the garage from Citroen UK.
I would have thought that if the switch is not sold separately, Citroen would not have been able to quote a price for this as there would not have been a part number available - So not sure if the garage is trying to get extra labour and parts cost from myself in order to boost their profits.
So does anyone know if the fan only comes as a complete unit or can you buy whatever switches to operate it separately - I have not got the diagnostic fault number the garage gave on their original estimate but can post it here if it helps?
thanks in advance,
Mike P
