Hi All,
I have a 1.6Hdi C5 (58 plate) and the EML light came on the other day and i've just plugged in my lexia tool. It's coming up with "Catalytic converter downstream temperature signal Short circuit to positive or open circuit or value too high"?
Without having a look im guessing there may be some kind of external temp sensor, am i right? Is there anything anyone else thinks i should be checking?
Regards,
Jack

Re: Catalytic Converter Issue
Not seen that error come up, but there is temperature sensor in between the Cat and DPF to monitor temperature during the re-gen cycle. It's about 1/2 way down the can on the RHS as you look at it. Can't see the Cit price at present, there is on e-bay, but it's not cheap: Sensor (ignore that it says oil temp sensor, it's the right part no). Looks common to lots of cars, so it should be possible to get one off a scrapper. Might be worth unplugging it and sticking a meter across it to see if it is open or closed circuit.

Hi RichardW,
Damn that was quick reply! For some reason that eBay link won't open for me, are you able to confirm the part no?
Cheers

I can't find a part number on the eBay advert. The eBay item number is 131560649747 in Richards link.
