fitting intercooler to hdi 90 xantia

Post by Raul »

Hi

I am going to fit an intercooler for the hdi 90. Does the intercooler piping from the hdi 110 fit to the hdi 90?

Inlet manifold is different and also the turbo unit is a different one aswell... the outlet from the turbo points downwards but where the hdi 90 outlet is on the "drivers" side of the engine the hdi 110 outlet is nearer the gearbox as the outlet pipe goes between the engine and gearbox and up to the right side of the inter cooler.. the hdi 110 lower intercooler pipe wont fit past the 90 hdi regulator too because of the different position of the regulator .. the be3 gearbox on the hdi 90 houses the regulator lower then the hdi 110..

Inlet manifolds wont come off without getting the exhaust manifold off first..

so.. therefore .. there is a massive amount of work to fit citroen original setup.

an ecu remap alone can easilly see a 90 push to 110 without an intercooler.

So it seems that I can not use the original setup of the 110. However I am not going to give up as I already have a stage one remap ( 120 bhp ) and now I want to push it to 150 bhp.

110 engine better for that... the hdi 90 uses the xud 7 turbo crank where the hdi 110 uses the xud9 crack. Stronger I believe

I could possibly supply all the original pipe work and intercooler had you decide to go that route. I must of dismantled 3 hdi 110s now.

Also I think the be3 gearbox may also explode with that much power which is why citroen fitted the bigger stronger Me/ml5 gearbox to hdi 110s from factory.

Probably samco hoses and the biggest intercooler you can find that fits is the way then. May blow up though.
