changing wishbone bushes (xantia)

Post by Raul »

Hi

Can I remove both wishbone at the same time? Is it much trouble to centre( correctly align) the ARB after? I am going to bring the whibones to the workshop where they have correct tools to change the bushes .

The ARB is not directly connected to the wishbone. (ARB is connected to the drop links which bolt to the suspension strut). Removing the wishbones will not disturb the ARB so no problem. Getting the wishbone bushes correctly fitted is the key to the new ones lasting.

Make sure to disconnect the 'dogbone' first though, otherwise it is possible it (or the height corrector) could get damaged.

The Xantia Wiki has a basic guide to changing the bushes. If both bushes need replacing, buying a complete new/reconditioned lower arm (wishbone) from a reputable source saves the considerable work and difficulty involved in replacing the rear ('P') correctly aligned.

Anyway I`ll recommend to do the height level adjust again despite carefully removing A-arm. And out of my experience.. not necessary that the dealer service shop will do the work right or how should be. Good luck with the task, and nice ride after ;)
