Reset ecu/bsi/immobiliser

Post by legepe »

Hi guy's,
Just got myself a Berlingo 2012 model.
It was bought with accident damaged to front end.
Started car before I bought it and started it when delivered however it had a fuel pipe/fuel cooler missing underneath from accident so quickly switched off engine.
Car from the begining seemed to have an electrical fault ie windows did not work but i thought that maybe it was because the car was in limp mode due to accident.
As soon as I fixed fuel problem I went to start engine but would not crank. Shows breaking system fault and auto locking active, then goes into economy mode, also cannot read ecu with obd device which is suggesting to me that it could be immobilser problem.
At some point from buying to repairing fuel pipe problem the battery was disconected by my friend (not sure why?)
I have had auto electrician look at it but he cannot fix it... I beleive he could not connect to ecu either
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to reset things back to normal without me having to take it to main dealer?
Or is there a piece of HW / SW that someone can recomend me using to connect to the cars computer?
Or is there any technician in my area that could fix it? Im in Hull
Thanks a lot

an old trick I sometimes use to temporarily clear an ECU of faults is to disconnect both terminals from the battery and connect them together (the leads, not the battery terminals ;) ), leaving it like that for about half an hour.
This allows various capacitors within the system to discharge and so the memory of some faults are lost too. Doesn't work for all ECUs, nor all faults, but it's worth a try.
When passenger of foot heave in sight, tootle the horn. Trumpet him melodiously at first, but if he still obstacles your passage then tootle him with vigor.
