C5 suspension issue

Post by neebie »

Hi I have just got a 2004 C5 2.0 hdi VTR with 97000 on the clock . It is in excellent condition but I am hearing rattling from under the car front and back. First I thought it was loose exhaust but I have just put it through its mot and it sailed through no problem . On further examination I checked the fluid tank but it seems to be empty . When I read on forum about this I wasn"t sure if I can refill it myself or through a dealer . Can anyone advise me on where to start to resolve this problem as I really like my C5 and would be grateful of your knowledge and experience.

I would first drop her down to the lowest setting, and check again. Oh, welcome to the forum, by the way :welc:

Even with the suspension set on low, nothing shows above the tank filter on my C5. It has always been like this, through three services. Not too sure what the correct level should be , but yes, you can top it up yourself, but
there is a method so don't just chuck a litre in and hope for the best. I think the method is on this forum somewhere. Try a search.
Again, I'm not sure, but I can't see how this would make the car rattle.
Someone will be along shortly to give you some pointers.
Rick.

Here are good pics which would be helpful to check the LDS level but
as Hell Razor5543 also said first car must be put to the lowest level.

click ---> help with 2001 c5 LDS level

Edit: It seems that LDS tank can also be inn black color, in mine the color is same as in the first two pics (yellow/light brown). The fluid level can be seen from outside tank, almost transparent.

(i haven't checked in it myself, but...) Surely the owners manual tells you how to check the hydraulic fluid level? :?
