Re: My turn for a C5!
Hi, I've a C5 estate and will happily measure wipers etc up for you and post replies this evening. Please let me know exactly what it is you want measured, is it just the length of the wiper blade or distance between ends of the blade and the edge of the glass etc?

Re: My turn for a C5!
From the tip of the wiper blade, along the blade and arm, to the other side of the central hub/release unit please. Thanks. I am checking to see if the wiper and arm I have is correct in its' length.

Re: My turn for a C5!
OK, I have made some progress (and the C5 herself is helping; she has stopped complaining about the EGR valve!). However, I need help on a few minor things.
1, Is there an easy way to find out if the brake pedal has the switch required for cruise control (oh, and where is the damned thing anyway)?
2, What is needed (barring the security code) to replace the radio (the one currently fitted plays up a lot), with one of the same type? I know you have to code it to the chassis.
3, I know that somebody explained how to clean the safety belt so they retract properly, but I cannot remember who it was. If anybody can remember, can you point me in the right direction please?
If anybody is after any bits, Wokingham Car Spares have a 52 2.2 HDi 16V C5 Exclusive saloon with leather seats, and they look OK. These people don't take the mickey over prices. They also have a MKII C5 saloon, but I didn't take a good look at it.

Re: My turn for a C5!
Before changing your radio, make sure that the aerial isn't faulty. The amp in the base is very vulnerable to water ingress.

Re: My turn for a C5!
I know that the radio is definitely at fault. You have to mash the power button a load of times for it to switch on/off. The volume control isn't great, but I think that this was because somebody tried to fix the control, not knowing it was the stalk at fault (the stalk has been replaced).

Re: My turn for a C5!
Do you mean the volume control on the stalk or the one on the radio itself James?
I just leave mine on all the time, control it from the stalk - since I discovered the volume control buttons on the back (in my brother's 307, accidentally :9 )

Re: My turn for a C5!
The volume control on the radio itself. The original stalk was faulty, in that whenever you touched the volume control it went straight to maximum volume! Now that has been replaced I can use the radio, but it still has issues, which is why I have got a replacement one.

Re: My turn for a C5!
Well, I have replaced the radio, and now I can switch it off without needing to hit the button with a hammer. OK, according to my Lexia there is an aerial issue, but I am aware that these can have problems.
However, I still need help on the other 2 items. Where is the switch on the brake pedal (to allow me to use cruise control), and is there an easy way to find out if I have one already fitted? How can I clean the drivers safety belt so that it retracts properly (I know somebody has done it on the forum, and written it up, but I cannot remember who)?

Re: My turn for a C5!
Might have been me, but Stickyfinger's beaten me to it. As he says, silicon spray, which I bought as "Dry Lube", probably from a general household store. The aerosol canister says it's for hinges, locks, curtain tracks, as well as lubrication/protection use in the garden, workshop, boat etcHell Razor5543 wrote:I know somebody has done it on the forum, and written it up, but I cannot remember who
