Xantia S2 wing mirror plastic cover

Post by xantiagreen »

How does the plastic coloured cover on the back of wing mirror come off, need to clean and remove scratches and don't want to pry it from the wrong end and snap a clip.

Cheers

It is a few years since I have removed one, but I can tell you that it is very difficult to do without breaking at least one of the clips (I practiced on a couple in breakers yards before trying my own).

I think the technique is to fold the mirror all the way back, then starting at the lower corner nearest the hinge, prise the cover back and out and up. It helps to have a spare cover to know where the clips are, and for insurance against them asll breaking.

Thanks V6, might have to settle cleaning it up in situ, but I definitely will give it a tease..

Heres the pictures.
I took it apart a while ago as the mirrors stuffed but the covers ok. Can't remember exactly how I went about it but I remember taking the glass out first, exposing the covers tabs. Possibly the lip on the inside (2nd pic) was unclipped next, I don't remember. As you can see 2 of my tabs are missing from the bottom of the cover so mine may have been easier than normal to remove. The other mirrors knackered too so I wish I could remember.
