So looking at a c5 diesel estate that has done 220,000 miles
What would you being looking at, apart from the service items?
I suspect the interior is going to worn so a drivers seat shouldn't be too expensive from France so get a passengers seat.

On the seats...why France ???? , loads of good cloth and leather in the scrap yards, about £150 for leather.
Clutch/Engine Smoke/Injectors/Belts, you take a bet on the suspension pump.
If it after 2004 then it could have a DPF (depends on engine), you take a bet again on the condition but a good jet wash and top up is the way with that however so have continuous problems that take some sorting.
The main thing, the trailing arm bearings, £350-£450 for the pair (if you can find a garage who knows how to do them) + parts

If its got the 8 valve 2.0. engine they are pretty well bomb proof. I would concur with trailing arm bearings although they may have been changed by that mileage. The interiors wear pretty well so it won't necessarily need replacing. I got a complete black leather one for £100. If it drives OK it probably is.
The tailgate struts have almost universally failed on the estate although if the weather is warm they may well work. To replace them you have to remove the headlining - if you can get any. Carry a broom handle with you.
