im looking for a part no. for the upper tailgate switch on a 2003 c5 estate.would be much appreciated

This one possibly - switch plate that sits under the rear wiper:

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00006405K3 CTRL RECEPTACLE 29.39 GBP 35.27 GBP 35.27 GBP

ISTR there is some issue with these - possibly that it's infact the wire on the glass that breaks, and the Cit recommendation is to replace the whole screen.
