According to what I have read on this forum, using anything other than BV 75W80 gearbox oil will result in treacle and stripped cones. If you go to GSF you can get Total BV 75W80 for under £7 per litre (well, it was about 6 months ago, while Peugeot was selling it for about £10).

So, is it still safe for me to use the NFP oil in my synergie gearbox?

As long as it is 75w80 and recommended for Pug/Cit gearboxes then yes.. James is right that anything thicker can make the gear change very stiff in the cold and cause potential damage...Ianhw77k wrote:So, is it still safe for me to use the NFP oil in my synergie gearbox?

It's 75w80 but recommended for Renault gearboxes. That's where my confusion stems from.
