Been there with one like this recently.

If it is hydraulic then if you take off the air filter, battery and tray you can get at the slave cylinder on top of the gearbox and remove it. The clutch release bearing clips into the pressure plate and pulls the springs to release the pressure rather than pushing against them as most clutches. Once the slave cylinder is off you can get your fingers in and have a feel around and see if the release bearing carrier feels as if it is still as and where it should be. You could also try pushing the rod back into the slave cylinder to see if it moves. If not (it is quite stiff) then that could indicate that there is a problem with the hydraulics.
