Text from Malcolm's daughter, via Mike; "Hi all, just left hospital, was there for Doctors' round. They said his kidneys are working, but they want to just assist them to clean dad's blood & remove the excess fluid. This in turn should make breathing easier & stabilise his oxygen levels and blood pressure.".

I've only just seen this so am a bit late in chipping in.

I've only ever spoken to Malcolm a couple of times via PM but I certainly had the same impression of him being a very knowledgeable and down to earth bloke.

My thoughts and best wishes are with him and his family. Here's hoping he makes a speedy recovery and returns to his old self.

Latest update (23:01 this evening) from Malcolm's daughter, via Mike; "Hi all, Dad is likely to be on dialysis for a minimum of 3 days & won't be taken off life support until off dialysis and stable. He is likely to be in ITU for at least 14 more days. I think the nurse said the dialysis has already made a slight improvement to dad's blood gas results. Other positives; Dad's mouth and nose have not been bleeding today. XX".

That's good to hear, I can put away the tape measure and break out a few of Malcolm's favourite "smilies":

This is very tragic news, he's always been so generous with his knowledge and experience, to everyone.

I do sincerely hope he's able to get through this and back to living a full life.

I am making a request I hope does not cause offence or issues. Please, when you post here, don't refer to Citronut in the past tense. He ain't dead yet, he is fighting through his illness, and (I sincerely hope) will be back and around for a long time to come (Gracie still has bits that need doing!). Other than that, carry on with your best wishes and concerns for him.

Malcolm helped me many years ago, on this forum I think. I've never met him in person.
His PercyWhatSits will see him back soon.

If it was my post that prompted the request (which it appears to be?) then I must admit to being confused as to how my post was refering to him as if he had passed away..?

Its not worth commenting about anything like that, its much more important that Malcolm gets better. He had another stable night last night and thats now 2 in a row which is encouraging.
Having known Malc for 3 years now and having gone down to see him on a regular basis, sometimes twice a week when i was living in Sussex and helped him on several occasions dissmantle sheds etc i know he is a fighter and all our positive vibes ime sure will help. He will be fine and i cant wait to chat on the phone to the BX Advisory Service soon.

Couldn't agree more.
Good news that Malc is coming out of the woods, as well.
