Latest on Malcolm; "Hi all. Mum spoke to the haematologist today, who was very informative. Dad is critically ill, with his liver function getting worse; but the rate it was deteriorating has slowed. He could do with going on liver dialysis in London, but would not tolerate the journey or any more being done to him at the moment. The next 2 to 3 days are crucial. His white blood cell count is still zero, even though he is having the drug to stimulate white blood cell production. XX".

Similar sentiment here. Sorry to say [emoji1] that I'm missing Malc's daily dose of 'banter'.

Latest two updates.

Received at 22:15 yesterday; "Hi all. Sorry, it is not good news. We had a meeting today with 3 ITU staff (including one consultant) and Doctor Grace, the haematologist; they have said that Dad is not responding to treatment. They have decided to give Dad until tomorrow without dialysis and if he does not manage his own toxins/urination they will stop active treatment. We have been warned that after dialysis stops Dad could pass away quite fast, so could happen before the morning. XX".

Received at 07:03 this morning; "Dad battles on, not urinating though and awaiting blood results. XX".

 Poor Malcolm. Sadly not good news at all... My thoughts as always with Malcolm and family and I'm still praying for good news to be just around the corner...

Said poorly as I'm not good at this but I'm sure you all understand what I'm trying to say...

I wasn't sure how to post this up, but after some consideration I wrote it as I received it (barring some tidying up from text to normal), as Malcolm's family had given permission to update the forum. My response to yesterdays' text was; "Please forgive my delay in replying, but I cannot think of anything to say that will not hurt you, other than "Come on Malcolm, you can pull through this and there are lots of people thinking of you, starting with your family".

James, what you said is just about perfect under the circumstances as it's how we all feel right now...

Even if we have some difficulty expressing it.

Exactly, I've followed Malcoms progress more than any other thread. I just don't know what to say. The words "Dad battles on" were a pleasure to read and I so hope he wins.

Just discovered this thread - what a great shame.

My heart goes out to family. If the worst happens he will be sorely missed, but well remembered.

He has pointed me in the right direction in the short time I have been on this forum.

This is such a sad thread and don't know what to say, except to reaffirm the messages of support. Always helpful, with humour.
