Lexia installation woes....
Ay up!!!!!
Truly am I not a man of little brain.
My Chinese clone of Lexia has arrived with a load of leads, all of which are self explanatory. These are, after all, the mechanical bits!!!! However, the installation of it has me baffled! It does not do what it's supposed to do and the suggested "How To" tutorials I've found assume a level of computer literacy beyond mine.
So, is there anyone out there who would be willing to help a Mighty Spanner God learn the computer side of this? I have unlimited mobile call minutes so my dime, as the Americans would say.

Re: Lexia installation woes....
It's Lexia 3 (I think!!!) and the laptop runs Windows 7.
Thinking of removing it and starting again, I hate computers! And they know it......

Re: Lexia installation woes....
OK, now we may be getting somewhere. What version of Windows (including the bit-width)? The Lexia software (being very old) cannot work in a 64b environment, but will work if it is run via a Virtual Machine. Also, do these help;?

Ay up!
It is a 64-bit machine, Windows Home Premium.
Struggling with this Virtual Machine concept. MS say I need a Pro version or higher.
So not quite cooking on gas yet but we've found the gas tap!!!

Re: Lexia installation woes....
OK, so now we know what the problem is. Unfortunately I do not have any experience of running a VM, but I know others have, so somebody will be able to help.

Re: Lexia installation woes....
I am running my Lexia on a Toshiba NB250 running Windows 7 Starter (which is 32b). I got it for £150, and it has a good battery life, and is very mobile (as it is not that big). I upgraded the memory to2GB, but it cannot take more memory.

It does not need any more memory to run the PSA programs, if anything install just an SSD if you want it to work faster and have even better battery life.Hell Razor5543 wrote:I am running my Lexia on a Toshiba NB250 running Windows 7 Starter (which is 32b). Windows is rearing up and objecting so must be a problem of compatibility.

Put a wanted ad on your local Freecycle, a good chance of getting a freebie XP laptop on there. Our local tip has skips full of them.Xantianut wrote:No go.

Re: Lexia installation woes....
You don't need any additional hardware and/or software. Even on the 64bit machine, the steps are quite easy:
1) Download and Install Oracle VM http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/serve ... index.html
2) Obtain a copy or image of the latest WindowsXP (with all SP installed)
3) Create a VM (for installing WindowsXP) with a minimum of 20GB storage (for all DiagBox/Lexia files)
4) Install WindowsXP on this VM
5) Install DiagBox/Lexia on the newly created WindowsXP VM
6) Follow steps for activation and you are ready to go
All the above will need approximately 3-4 hours, and even if you are rather IT-illiterate (as per your disclaimer ), the above steps are more-or-less straight-forward.
