Spare wheel rubber bumpers

Post by Dommo »

Hi all

Does anyone know whether the rubber bumpers situated above the spare wheel (to stop it bouncing around) are different dependant on whether the car has 205 section tyres or 185 section?

The reason I ask, I've recently swapped to 205 section rubber as I prefer the tyre choice available in that size, so I swapped my spare to a 205 section tyre I had spare. The problem is that it now doesn't fit in the spare wheel cage.

Below is a service box caption which shows the various options, does anyone know whether it is the age of the car that makes a difference to the rubber block, or the tyre width?

Part number 70 seems to be the offending item.

Thanks.

Looks like there's several options from your picture. I'd be tempted to cut them down or use an old rubber bush / roller skate stopper etc. Sounds like you won't be swapping the tyres back anyway.
