I waxoil them before fitting them. Other than that regular car cleaning and keep the boots on. They seem to last a decade if not lookedcafter so should be alright with some care.

wax oil will degrade the rubber coating/bonding, once this has degraded the weather will get into it and agitate the tin worm

I would not use silicon on rubber, it leaches out the oils and allows it to develop surface cracks by allowing ozone to attack it.

That above is part of a range, a cleaner and a "protective spray"..as it is used for boats, and has good reviews, just wondered. ??
