Interesting that your mk1 does not already have those 2 features, a mk1 exclusive did, but I now suspect that your car does not have the wiring for any exclusive features.
It is well worth keeping the dipping mirror, as these will be increasingly hard to find, but of course on the wrong side for a LHD car. Also, although very similar, mk1 & mk2 mirrors have different wiring connectors.
Have you recovered the rotary connector from behind the steering wheel? that will fit your mk1.

Cheers....
@ slip-ring.....I have not yet recovered that, was planning to put it on the shelf
No dipping REAR View mirror, not the side ones.
When the dash instruments were out the other day (I have to do it all again as a bulb has blown and the heater control lights do not work either) there were a few unused connectors in there.
........... I am assuming that it had a "Standard" loom (like most C5's) that contain the leads for the extras that have not been fitted (aka Exclv's bits)............am I wrong on this with the Xantia ?

Re: from S2 Xantia exclv to S1 Xantia (interior)
The indexed/dipping N/S mirror was only fitted to cars equipped with electric seats from the factory which wasn't commonly fitted to Activa's especially in France where cars generally have a lower spec than the UK. Retro fitting the wiring and ECU for an indexed mirror involves a disproportionate amount of hassle for what you gain.

Is that certain? I fitted a mk2 mirror to the ns of red. Only difference I noticed was I had an extra plug for a temp sensor.xantia_v6 wrote: Also, although very similar, mk1 & mk2 mirrors have different wiring connectors.
How do you install the indexing thing, I thought all vsx and exclusive had it and have been trying to work out why both mine don't work.

See above, were your Xantia's fitted with electric seats from the factory?elma wrote:How do you install the indexing thing, I thought all vsx and exclusive had it and have been trying to work out why both mine don't work.

No they weren't, I'd just like to add it.
My friend had an l reg, non leather vsx that did do it many moons ago. Hence I've always been convinced it should happen.
