c5 1.6 59plate trouble starting.
Hi all, as stated above really.
Sometimes it will start no problems at all and run perfect all day.
Other times it will start and then cut out like there's a lack of fuel.
I was going to change the battery and then glow plugs however I'm not 100% sure I would be right in doing so.
However Today it started fine ran it for about 30mins nice commute, then all off a sudden just got on the A45 over taking a lorry and stopped dead, the esp light flashed, then came on the engine management light, saying limp mode, then just stopped.
Pulled over had a quick look everything looked fine, so popped back in and started no problems with no messages on the dash and no lights.
Any help greatly received if I've missed anything or wanting more details please ask.
Look forward to the replies.

This is very vague, without a Lexia/DiagBox session it would be hard to locate the true culprit ... I'd rule out the battery issue since you experienced a serious issue during the drive, that should have a different cause ... maybe the EGR valve?

Hi vibro, is it a hard job to remove the egr if you have any idea.
Could possibly do it this weekend if I know how long roughly it would take.
Cheers Dan

Lexia....
BUT.... if the fuel filter has not been changed for a while then I would change that first and see what happens. This engine is sensitive to the condition of the fuel filter.
Whereabouts are you? There may be someone nearby with a Lexia that can interrogate it: http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 19&t=29178" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: c5 1.6 59plate trouble starting.
Hi Richard
Fuel filter was changed November last year, surely it wouldnt need changing again, it has done roughly 15,000 miles should I just change this, to be sure. That's if the garage actually changed it, and not just reset the light.
I will change this Friday, just to be safe tho.
Any other ideas.
And thanks for the advice guys.

Re: c5 1.6 59plate trouble starting.
I've also tried contacting someone on here about a lexia check before but never got a reply back to me, so if anybody is available to check my car out I would be greatly appreciate it, I can provide refreshments etc and off course a lunch etc.

Is there any pictures showing where these are located so I can have a look, making sure all connections are good, also any links at all.
When you say service documentation, are you looking at service Citroen by chance.
Falling out the chair should of looked at your name properly before typing.

Re: c5 1.6 59plate trouble starting.
I have the offline full Service Documentation (the kind the actual Dealers use) ... I can fix all of them up, entire procedures, so it can give you some ideas what to attempt ... but, like stated before, the first weapon of choice to tackle your problem should be Lexia ... you don't want to fix the things that actually work, just by hunch ...

Re: c5 1.6 59plate trouble starting.
My bet (without Lexia) would be either Fuel Filter, Fuel pump or Pressure regulator.....not a job that should be done without a Lexia.

Hi guys I've just took the fuel filter out but it looks like it has melted to the sensor I will upload pictures when I get home as out atm.
Any ideas what the sensor is tho, as I'm stuck as to what I is.

Re: c5 1.6 59plate trouble starting.
is that the water in fuel sensor ?......or the heater your talking about
Melted ??? FIRST find out why...Melting stuff needs lots of heat, and near your fuel supply IS NOT GOOD

Re: c5 1.6 59plate trouble starting.
Hi sticky that's the beasty, when I say melted It might be a bit over the top, basically the clip that hold the heater into place has 'melted' a little, I didn't want to risk taking it apart and couldn't re use the heater, though it was a sensor.
