£50 if you DIY it.....err, obviously.

Best of luck with your gamble, you are a braver man than me.

Zelandeth wrote:Just bear in mind that if you've got the bayonet fitting hoses at the moment that chances are that you'll destroy them getting them off. So it would be sensible to buy a new top and bottom hose along with the radiator ready to change. Also saves you the massive hassle of trying to detach said hoses from the radiator in one piece which I can tell you from prior experience is at best a maddening experience in most cases. This usually ends up with you destroying the hoses anyway, your knuckles, and several bits of equipment in the general vicinity.
Absolutely correct with this, from my personal experience.

However... A new radiator will be easy to find (and relatively cheap). Give Malcolm Lockwood a call and he can sort you out.
As for the rad hoses though...? Good luck finding some of those! :(

..and what happened ? after refilling the rad. 2/3 times over a period of time , the heavy leak stopped and i no longer needed to regularly fillup.Put it into my indi garage and he found a T hose leaking , he ordered and new one but had trouble removing the old .
In trying the radiator started to leak again .
The heater also seems to have blocked up.
We discussed it and agreed to fit a new rad. which he ordererd and got for about £90 , the wrong one arrived which caused a 3 day delay (i had a courtesey van).He left all hoses soaking/sprayed with wd40.
we needed a new top hose and also the filler cap seal was duff . He replaced all and ran the car up to temp.
one of the new hose connections started leaking and he used hose seal or something .
he filed up again and added anti freeze , and i got the car back , runs like a dream .
the heater is only slightly warm.

the hoses he says he got from citroen and one was £49.
cost me £358 which is less than i expected .

at one point i had an R reg Zx td lined up and it went for only £260 , but it would have needed all belts doing .
unfortunately i'm living entirely off savings otherwise i would have scrapped and bought a newer car , but thats another story .

thats all

The heater also seems to have blocked up.
You have most likely blocked your heater matrix with the rad seal.....oil coolers on gearboxes suffer the same problem.

Glad it never let you down and its now working.

Glad it's sorted for you.
But yep, my thoughts are the same - rad seal does tend to block heater matrix's unfortunately.
