£100 BX 1.4 wins Plymouth-Dakar event

Post by Mark W »

In my local paper, someone entered the above event, in which in which all cars had to of been bought for £100 or less.
"His trusty Citroen BX 1.4, which he bought from Imperial Metal Scapyard in Shoebury no less was the only car involved which did not break down during the trek"
"IT was not a race , but it was still nice for him to finish 1st, mainly because all the other cars broke down!"
"He is now waiting in the Gambia for the rest of them to finish"
Who says BX's are unreliable?

"Loves Driving, hates Garages" as the 1983 advert said!!!
Its great that it "won" and did not break down at all. Brilliant.

Don't forget that due to it's reputation you will get 10 times the car for the same money with a BX, which will probably have been scrapped for the sake of a couple of hours work.
Anyone who picked Ford will still be restoring it.

I forgot to mention, that there was another BX that took part in this event, a BX 16v no less! [:)][8D]
The car was driven by Kerstin & Rob of Twickenham who got given it after it failed its MOT due to high emissions.
The last I heard the old 16valver had made it to the Gambia ok. [:D]
