Thread Size

Post by 2cvman »

Hi Guys,

Have a C5 front strut. The feed line has a large 14mm???? thread size.

Questions.
1. Does this use a Banjo bolt to connect?
2. What size is the thread M14 x 1.25??

Plan to use on a 2CV :-D

Any info gratefully received.

Cheers

hi and welcome

do you know what variety and year C5 the strut came from,
they dont usually have a banjo coupling, but just a flare nut that screws straight into the strut top,

what are you going to use it for opening the dersh bonnet :yikes: :-D  :rofl2: :rofl2:  ,

you are also aware the C5 does not run on citro green blood

were are you located

Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for the reply, purchased two, first has a M10 connector, the other a 14mm? thread, both from as 1.8petrol 01 - 04 car.
I can make an adapter if I know thread size.
Not for the bonnet :-D
Have built 4x4 2cv, want to have height adjustable suspension!

Hi,
Updated my profile.

Plan is to modify the rear suspension to start with...

New bracket on the top of arm to push with the strut parallel to the chassis,
in the rear seat footwell.

Will link to some pics when I re-gain access to my Flickr account, It seems Google and Yahoo have fallen out??

Cheers

How are you accessing Flickr!?
I had to shift my account from BTYahoo! to Yahoo! as BT & Yahoo were divorcing.
I can access Flickr! fine on Google Chrome through my Yahoo account, all works fine today (not always the case with Flickr!)

Created a new Flickr account, I think Yahoo have lost their way :(
See https://www.flickr.com/photos/132763931@N04/?details=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Last image gives and idea of the strut position.
Still now info on the Thread size, its NOT M14...

I don't know the answers but one of these would find the pitch in no time.
Cool project, I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Always fancied doing the same to an old van myself.

Hi,
OK on the gauge, its on the wish list:)
Now have the thread details as I obtained a union.
At the stage of wiring up the pump/electro valves, hence the question on the pump wiring.
Will post links to pics/video when its going?
Cheers
Peter
