C4 Cruise error

Post by Northern_Mike »

If course, I've had it nearly two months now so it was inevitable some errors would appear..

"Vehicle speed control system faulty".. cruise inoperative.

Switching it to "off" then back on again makes it work.

Any ideas?

I also get parking sensor errors when it rains.

Lexia.... could be stalk, COM unit, BSI, underbonnet fuse box, brake pedal switch, wiring, speed sensor etc etc! Take your pick!

I got parking sensor errors when raining on the c4vts also Mike. On the c5 I didn't get errors but it would beep occasionally when nothing there. Never had cruise control errors.

The cruise problem (also speed limiter) spray some contact cleaner on the switch & twist it back and forth a few times, also move the steering column adjustment back & forth & in & out to clean contacts.
I have recently changed the brake light switch with the upgrade & still sometimes get the error, but twisting the switch a few times clears it.

Thanks all, I shall have a play tomorrow afternoon - I didn't get a chance to either get it on Lexia, or fiddle with it at all today. I was doing my good deed for the week, which took rather longer than expected! I did end up parked outside a Maplin for a while, and meant to go in and get some Servisol but had a sleeping child in the car, and then forgot to get it when my missus reappeared some time after. That's tomorrow's task sorted then..
