If you only want to by-pass the main switch for main and dipped beam you will need 2 relays ~20Amp each.
The modification is at fusebox in engine compartment and you will feed the bulbs from battery +

Get a 4 pin relay (not sure on exact name but the ones that run the fans are the same), run a nice thick guage from terminal 30 to the battery or fusebox live and run 85 to ground. Be sure to use a fused wire for the positive!

Now, what I do is trigger the relay from the original wiring using a scotchlock as it pulls minimal current just switching a relay, you'll have to figure out which is positive and earth though. Then terminal 87 run a nice fat wire to the lamp. You only need thick wires for these as the original wiring is only triggering the relay and the bulbs will be running off of the new wiring.

You'll be best then taking the earth from the lamp and running a thicker wire from there to a decent ground on the car. You will probably be able to run both lowbeams from one relay if your wire is thick enough (i ran 2 spotlights on a previous car this way) however you won't be able to run mains and low from one relay for obvious reasons ;)

This link explains the benefit of carrying out a headlamp relay mod very well complete with wiring diagrams.

You can also buy the relay prewired with decent lengths at halfords/motoring shops, not sure how much more they are.

Good good :D when you break the wiring diagram down its actually really simple, if you can find the elusive twin 87 relay it makes wiring a smidge easier, otherwise you have to try and crimp two wires into one spade which can be snug!

A crimper or solder and soldering iron wouldn't go amiss either!

All will be soldered for sure, I hate crimps and scotch blocks more than I hate Chelsea, Man-U and Justin Bieber added together.

And how much, apart from one FA cup, did you win over the last nine years?

West Ham have got the best stadium and you've just confirmed that you've not actually won anything :-) A team made up from FCFers could have won as many trophies or promotions as Arsenal did for 9 years :-)

I'm both a Burnley fan (family thing we had shares since 1948!) and a closet Man U fan from years of living abroad and having to have an English team to support that was actually winning In Europe. So no, not jealous :D I think Man U and Burnley won a couple of things

All about being "always there" with us Gooners, which ever way you look at it we are that.

Disagree about WestHam's new one.....not at all like the Family home at the Emirates, it will not have the atmosphere I think....Chairman at West Ham is switched on however with that price drop, She will cause a few ripples at Arsenal with our prices :) ....Sunderland on the 20th is my next trip up
