Re: Brake caliper worry

Post by blademonkey »

Just a quick update on my brake caliper fitting,I fitted them yesterday and bled the system before fitting handbrake cables to levers as advised, took car for a test run around block and all seems well, although brakes do feel a bit spongy before they bite.I have a Citroen xantia as well and the brakes don't feel as good as those on the xantia,I know the braking system on the c5 has abs, would that have anything to do with the spongy feeling or do u think I should try bleeding system again. Many thanks for all the replies.

im not saying there is nothing wrong with your C5 brakes, but the big difference between them and the ones on the XANT, the XANT's brakes are powered by the hydraulic system, so your foot pressure only opens a valve to let the hydraulic pressure through to varying degrees,

were as the C5 has conventional brakes and your foot creates the pressure

some XANTS have ABS also
