I have had a few cars where the Aux Belt pulleys and alternator clutch pulleys needed changing, they all sounded different....from a rattle, a whine a squeak to a little Eeek at start-up.

Hi yes both halfords and Kwik fit did this and the noise stopped. Problem is even after replacing the power steering fluid and the pump it's still there. The can shaft belt was replaced less than 2 years ago. I'm taking it to another garage on Thursday and if they don't know it will have to be Citroen.

If you put your car type and location in your Sig, then maybe you would get advice re: indies in your area who know about Citroen's.

It's the alternator, the temperature sensor for the ECU and the coil pack.

Luckily my warranty has come up trumps again and paid for a new alternator but I'm a bit (to say the least) annoyed I need a new coil pack. The reason being I had a new one fitted by another Citroen garage around July/August 2013. I'm concerned this will be the second one I've had in less than two years. Citroen have said their parts/work carry a 12 month guarantee but my point is a coil pack should last more than two years surely? is this common?

I challenged the garage about the coil pack and they said it's over 12 months old so tough. I contacted Citroen via facebook and they agreed with my findings that a coilpack can either last the lifetime of the car or over 100,000 miles. The guy at Citroen actually said 350,000 miles! So I said well mines done 18,000! They've offered me £75 towards the cost but this isn't right is it? The car's original coil pack went in June 2012 with mileage of about 50k. The replacement failed after a few months and was replaced by the the Citroen one in August 2012. This is the one that has just been replaced. I feel like going back on facebook to let Citroen know how I feel. Thats' FOUR coil packs so far!

I would write to them "Rejecting their Offer", quoting what they said and informing them you will advance the case to the claims court, quoting their words as evidence of their acceptance of "a fault" with the goods.

Thank you for that it's certainly food for thought. There's something up for me to go through so many packs

Or the packs ARE faulty....this is your claim if you take it forward.

Citroen have to give the reasons for the failure in the claims court (they have to attend, a written reply can be challenged with ease normally as Citroen have not tested your failed units)....normally they will make an offer at this point (it costs less)
