Ipod connector for 2005 C5
I'm trying to find a suitable interface to connet an iPod or iPhone 5C to my 2005 C5.
I can find plenty for the 2001-2004 shape C5 but few for the C5II like mine.
Ideally it would be able to charge the iPod and allow it to be operated through the cars radio buttons rather than the iPod.
I've been spoilt with my new C1 which has bluetooth for music streaming/phone calls and a USB & AUX input too. My Activa also has an AUX port in its original Blaupunkt 4030 radio, so I'd like something in the C5 too but I'm not wanting to change to an aftermarket radio.
Has anyone got any in their C5IIs? What is it and how well do they work?
Thanks!

depends on budget....and if you wish direct, via "connection box" or bluetooth connections...budget can range from £200 to £25....

Re: Ipod connector for 2005 C5
I used one of these on my 807.
Didn't work out too well on my C5 though (mostly my fault I think) so check the model of your headunit first.

I use an FM transmitter. Plugs into cigar lighter and jack on iPod then just tune in the radio.

@ Filberton - That's not what the OP is looking for:

I had one of those but it was too much of a faff to use every day and on long drives I had to change the frequency too often. Certainly wouldn't recommend one if you tend to drive alone.Filberton wrote:I use an FM transmitter. Plugs into cigar lighter and jack on iPod then just tune in the radio.

This is the one I use....direct feed line to the glove box connectors and phone links by Bluetooth
I can use a 32gig micro card , plug in my MP3 hard drive player of just stream via Bluetooth. It has a Mic on it so hands free is just about OK, just select source 2 on the radio.

Re: Ipod connector for 2005 C5
My old C5 had a box of tricks plugged into the CD changer port in the back of the headunit. Could only control it from the phone or device that was plugged in though. Not useful to you, I expect.

Re: Ipod connector for 2005 C5
I'm on the same hunt for a solution (for my 2007 VTX+ C5 estate), I made the mistake of replacing the stereo in my old Xantia with a bluetooth one and now feel lost without it!
Cheers
Do you remember where you got it from? I've tried looking on e-bay and I'm finding everything but! Does it just plug into the phono connectors?Stickyfinger wrote:This is the one I use....direct feed line to the glove box connectors and phone links by Bluetooth

Re: Ipod connector for 2005 C5
Via Amazon mate, and yes it goes to the glove box phono connections....works in my C5(2) and also in my X7. As others point out, there are the Denison units (and others) in the £150/£200 range. US maker I-Simple do good plug in/antenna feed types
I will be switching out with a new head unit soon, and I will be happy to loose the wheel controls for a good bluetooth unit that allows better hands free speech as well, this is compromised on that (above pic) as it is not that good.
EBay has good 2nd hand head units in the £100 of much less area, I got one for my activa for £30 with Mic and cables.

I was wondering about changing the head unit but have heard the C5 (face lift) units can be tempermental so thought I'd just try to add something to it rather than completely replace for another... I'd have no idea what would be compatible as if I understand correctly it controls the nav, auto lights/wipers and everything else ...... at the risk of sounding old, I miss the days when a stereo was just a stereo.....

Doesn't the Citroen USB Box work with the C5? I have it in my C4 & it works really well.
