Correcting turbo boost on hdi 110

Post by harryp »

Thought I'd start a new thread. Does altering the length of the actuating rod actually alter the turbo pressure, or is the whole system electronically controlled by feedback. It seems it should be, but after purchasing the car it was apparently throwing an error of "low boost pressure". If so, by how much thread to start, 1/4 ,1/2 turn? and of course, which way; more closed/open; shorten/lenghten?? Of course the values 1/4 turn etc are only mentioned as I have no idea of the sensitivity, and not wishing to reinvent the wheel.... Has anyone tried?
Best regards,
Regards, Harry

Shortening the rod used to increase boost on the older 1.9 TDs
On my HDI 110 I was getting an intermittent engine light (after hard acceleration) that has been totally cured by replacing the turbo electrovalve, full power restored and a lot more driveable, as an added benefit replacing the electrovalve is a clean hands job.
BXs since 1993 built 1.9 TZD turbo, got a S2 Xantia estate, brilliant car! 2013, Xantia HDI LX 110 2000 new car with 122,000, l C2 HDI Rusty rocket, C3 Picasso HDI new to me.

Sadly altering the Turbo boost on the Wastegate WILL throw up an error more frequently without having the ECU altered in the set settings to accept the higher boost!

The ECU controls the Turbo boost pressure to a SET value in the ECU via the Electrovalves, by increasing the physical turbo boost by allowing more in past the wastegate may very well upset the ECU.. best left alone on the HDi engines sadly.

At least this is how I beleve it to operate and work, and while I did 138k in mine and went to 283k I never adjusted my turbo and found the 110 still extreamilly acceptable .

I beleve remaps adjust preset setting for turbo boost allowance etc.
