Diesel fuel return leak

Post by chinkostu »

How easy is it to patch/swap the fuel return line on the xantis TD? Its definately the return as with the engine off you can see it dripping from the bottom of the line where it clips behind the engine when using the grenade. It's luckily a tiny leak with the engine running, i only realised when the weather turned and i started seeing rainbows!

I'm going to be doing the strut top on that side in the next few weeks, is it worth holding back until then for better access?

Update, pipe went terminal today. Ended up rwmovimg the line where it clamps to the bulkhead and running a new length as far as the cam cover. It's all 8mm but the joiner is really, really snug into the old pipe running from the pump! Is that normal? No more leaks but i'm concerned that the pipe might split at the join.

Is the connection on the pump still 8mm?

Then it would be loose over the joiner ;)

Definately return, runs from top right of pump below thw boost compensator, between the intake pipes and down behind to the bulkhead :)

not if the internal bore of the new pipe is to fit 8mm and you were trying to get it over a 10mm pipe

Not sure if we're on the same page here haha.

The joiner is a plastic barbed jobby thats currently sitting between the two pipes, measured at 8mm :) clamped at either end, it does indeed sit inside the pipes, so maybe a pipe with ID8mm needs a slightly smaller joiner? Thr joiner was marked as 8mm too
