clutch cable part number, 95 xantia 1.9td

Post by elma »

Can anyone confirm if 96137579 is the correct part number for my clutch cable please? Its for the car in my signature. Also is it necessary to buy a clip with a metal spring or just a plain old clip?
Thanks

Looks like the right one - post up the VIN and I'l check. NFP from Citroen.... You will need both parts of the clip - unclear if it's the plastic or metal that lets go first, but both usually end up broken. I'd be surprised if it's not been replaced before on a 95 car - but I'd replace it if you are going to the trouble of having the pedal out anyway! Have fun with it

Hi Richard, the rp num is 6811 (I think) and the VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

I don't think that it has been changed before, the bolt is in the oem way round and the cars 7 miles short of 110k.

That's the right cable part number. Should be a manual adjust.

That picture is the RP number - although service.citroen thinks it was built the day before :-D

Double the fun then. Get a new bolt on hand (M8x1.25x70) in case you need to saw the head off!

Thanks Richard, I'm ordering the bits now. Getting a nut and bolt too, can't be a bad idea. I'm not driving further than I'd walk home at the minute as I'm sure its going to snap soon.
