Major issues with 'new' 8 valve 1.6 Hdi.

Post by Bob L'eponge »

It looks like the newer 8-valve versions of the 1.6 Hdi lump have been having some major issues, mainly to do with the injectors, which are Continental's 'new generation' piezo units. Apparently PSA have been standing the cost of repairs, at least in France. Obviously, these issues should be taken note of by any owners, or potential owners, of the newer units.

To be fair, I think that the real issue here is not a design fault on the part of PSA, but a failure on the part of one of their suppliers. Perhaps they should have stuck with Bosch!

Can't quite identify the engine they are commenting on, but we have already changed 2injectors on 2 different cars, one an 11plate 3008 29 k miles & a Ds3 with 12000 miles. Both were 115 bhp 1.6 HDI engines.
Apparently the blue HDI ones are having injector problems as well.
