Activa Leaking!!!

Post by superloopy »

The weather's the right side of 3degrees today so i've been out 'leak' spotting on the activa!

And here it is ... just under nsf subframe to the back. I'm guessing its a suspension pipe cos it's up to pressure almost immediately. That drip is just the last of a gushing torrent!! It's everywhere ...

... and looks a pain to get at [emoji32]

Anyone know where this heads off to and more to the point how i'm going to get at it? There's no room to swing a spanner of any type in there by the looks of it. That's the rear of the nsf wishbone you can see on the pic. Covered in glorious green stuff! I'm hoping that doesnt have to come to pieces cos i've never touched any suspension before [emoji26]. Time to retire her maybe?

....

That looks/sounds familiar to the one I had go on mine a few years ago.
It was a right sod to change, because of zero access as you say.
Got there in the end though... I wouldn't give up on a car just because of one pipe.

Looks real pita to get at. Where do those little pipes run to i wonder? Tried to follow it back but ran out of arm .... it'll need to stand for a few more weeks until the weather picks up if i dont scrap her this weekend. I'm getting really p**sed off with the car. May just strip bits off and shed them. I really need the space more than i need this car!

Have you looked on service.Citroen at the parts diagram?
I think I sussed mine out by looking at the diagrams in Russek (service Citroen wasn't available then).

Yes ... had a quick squint but its totally confusing where the other end heads off to. The leaking pipe is just inside the wheelarch/baulkhead area. There's two if them close together and its the top one of the pair. Guess i need a diy lesson on moving the suspension arm out of the way to begin checking whats what. I've got most of the tools, flarer, pipes etc. Just not the knack of doing things!

rather than taking the suspension arm apart, it would probably be eaiser to go from above (inlet piping off etc.)

If I can dig out my russek and I think the diagrams will be helpful, I'll post up a pic.

Thanks.
I'm waiting on a decent inspection lamp turning up. I've had the reservoir out today and there's not much to be seen from the top in the dark! Problem is that the pipe is only just above the suspension arm and access is not good even if i could identify the 'other' end. Am i right in thinking that because it spills almost as soon as the engine is started that it's a suspension pipe rather than brake? Would a brake pipe be leakfree until pressure applied? The end thats visible seems to go into some sort of rubber tubing which the two steel pipes join in a staggered fashion. This ones the topmost pipe. Difficult to describe. If i could find the other end somewhere in the vicinity of the engine bay and not the rear of the car then i can run a gash bit of kunifer as a fix. But wheres the other end??

Here's a 'wider' view ... the pipe's that one just above the subframe bolt. That's the activa control rod, wishbone end and arb in the pic as a reference.
