Strut gaiters

Post by chinkostu »

Is it normal for them to be a pain to refit? Gave my struts a spray as i had the jerky rising, but it took me the best part of half an hour to get them to sit properly, was impossible without putting the car back on normal

I haven't had any problems as such, but Gracie is an S2 Xantia. I wonder if there are differences in the gaiters.

One side is ahowing signs of needing changjng at some point soon, but even the good side was a struggle. Almost like it can't hold onto the ring of the strut top.

I'm not sure. I never had an issue when I used to grease the struts on my S1 Activa. Put it in high, pull boots down. Grease. Pull boots back up.

When I replaced mine they were a pain to fit at the top as they were a really tight fit, the bottom was easy.

I've always found them a pain to refit....

A bit of lube helps...
