nemo help

Post by stevemiller »

I have a whirring noise at 1500 rpm up
Coming from the belt area
It's most noticeable in first and second gear accelerating
And decelerating
Although I can rev the engine in neutral and get the same sound although the revs have to be
Slightly higher
I've changed the tensioner, alternator pulley and belt
It's driving me crazy
Also I have a woop woop woop turning left on dual carriageways
I suspect a cv joint.. But which one?
The local mechanic believes i need a gearbox and wheel bearing!!!

On idle with the clutch in.. Still makes the noise
It's a whirring not whine noise
Its almost like the auxiliary belt is too tight
Maybe I should be looking elsewhere as I'm sure the power steering etc are fine
As there all new lol

They're all auto tensioners now arent they? A tight belt could whine.

Cambelt look ok?

Yes auto tensioner.
I am beginning to think cambelt. Although it's tough to check and not replace
I've thrown enough parts at it..

Anyone know how to check cv joints
None are split or appear to have excessive travel
The noise happens at 40 mph up on left hand bends. No clicking when on full lock
