Xantia Seat Back Swap.

Post by rory_perrett »

Having aquired a Xantia Hdi Exclusive Estate I'm now in the process of swapping the good bits from my Hatchback to the Estate as the plan is not to MOT the Hatchback when it expires in April and switch to the Estate. One of the jobs is to build one good drivers side front seat from the two. The estate base is the better as is the hatchback seat back. Has anyone swapped the complete back on an Exclusive leather seat, if so any helpful tips and pointers.

Thanks

Rory

Rory,

Don't think you can swap a hatchback seat back for an estate seat back.
Believe the seatbelts are within the back bit itself on the estate.

Not sure about the base, that might be OK.

Cheers

Estate back seats are different to hatch. I beleve the mounting points are in different places to each other.. base and upper..

Correct. The seat back clips to the C pillars are totally different...

I think there might be a misunderstanding here... I reads that Rory is only talking about a front seat, which is the same in hatch and estate?

Xantia_V6 you have it in one. Nothing wrong with the rear seats, it is the back of the driver's seat I want to swap. I was wondering if anyone knew what was in there. I'm hoping that the wiring for the side air bag is on a plug. Then there is the pump for the lumber support, is it fully containes within the seat back and again just a cable to be unplugged. And that's before the added complication of the motor. If ther eis a chance I'm going to bu**@r something up I will live with the seat out of the hatch. If I can do the swap the estate base with the hatch back will give me the best seat.

It appears some read "seat back swap" as "back seat swap"... oops.

To answer my own question - it appears that the seat frame is a single welded unit so you can't fit the back of one seat onto the base of another.
