2002 C5 windscreen water bottle

Post by THELABMAN »

Hi Folks,

I'm sorry to bother you all but does anyone know if the windscreen washer bottle on a 2002 Citroen C5 is available anywhere other than from Citroen as I'm struggling to find one in GSF or Eurocar Parts... if not is the bottle used in any other Citroen model as up here C5's in breakers yards are like hens teeth.

Regards

Peter

Yup, I agree with Stickyfinger. I found a second hand one last year on ebay complete with washer pump and level sender for about £30 if memory serves correctly.

Happy hunting :)

yep, been saved a number of times as well. That said I used to sell a lot by ebay/paypal when doing my specialist tools a few years back, a good number of times people tried to scam me....I NEVER sent without signed for/paid for delivery..I am also happy to pay it. (they have to provide proof they sent it unlike standard so the disputes are easy)

Now I have just spent a few ££ as a test order from AliBaBa.....let see on that..

I can only see one on Ebay and it's going for about £29, not sure if it's just the bottle you get or the pump and level sensor but I'm loath to purchase it incase it's the wrong part as I've no idea of what mines look like... I've toyed with the idea of trying to take the bumper off but I can only find the screws along the top inside the bonnet that hold it in place and nothing for the bottom or sides, I'm not keen on taking it to a garage to look at it until I've a new bottle but at the same time it could be something that could be fixed... I've still got water it just doesn't hold much that's the proble.

Check using your vin on Citroen Service, it will give you the correct number....that number is on the bottle

Look for....Breaking Citroen c5 on ebay.....then contact the scrapper and ask him to look for the code sticker.....thats how they do it...

If it doesn't have headlamp washers, the dealer *only* wants £40....

Hi Richard,

£40 sounds fairly reasonable for a brand new bottle, I don't have headlight washers, as the pump etc would just swap over from the old one... I'd still need to factor in the cost of getting someone to pull off the front bumber though .. us this is a big job to undertake .....

Shoot me, but access is via the inner wing liner is it not ?, a few torx screws and a tug :)

Hi Peter,

Removing the “bumper” is a minor job, I did it two weeks ago.
I had wobbly knees before starting but found that it’s in fact only a cover plate, while the metal bumper is further inside and doesn’t need removing.

There are 11 bolts and "buttons" (item 12) all up; the latter release with a quarter-turn either way and go back in straight ... preferably with a stubby wide-bladed screwdriver.

There’s no proper access by removing the inner wing because the bottle unbolts from the front.

Enjoy a good fiddle. :)

Hi Clogz, thanks for the post but maybe I'm just get senile in my old age but I can't see half the bolts or buttons meant to hold the bumber on the car, the only things I can see are on the landing panel when you lift the bonnet ... I can't see anything in the wheel arches at all and it's been to wild n wet to lift the car to look with wheels off.
