03 C5 2.0 HDI 90 what makes the speedo work

Post by citronut »

just looked at my friends C5 as in title,

speedo hasnt worked for sometime now, he has only just managed to let me have it in to look into it,

pluged me DIS-LEXIA up it which came back with no faults found, except for a and display fault,

jacked it up to get under and have a look at the transponder, what transponder it aint got one, or at least not were i expected to see it on the diff housing #-o

so is it done trough the ABS sensors/control unit then, if so how do i fix it?????
Regards, malcolm.

Yes, comes off the ABS sensors AFAIK. Is the odo still counting? IIRC C5s are prone to failure of the stepper motor in the speedo head that stops the needle working.

Your Lexia should also be able to detect the speed at each wheel which would confirm whether the ABS sensors are working. AFAIK the speed is derived from the average of the sensors.
15 C4 1.6 eHDI 115 Exclusive - better half's
12 RR Westminster 4.4 TDV8 - Gentleman's Club on wheels
05 C5 2.0 HDI 138 Exclusive - gone but not forgotten
05 C5 2.0 HDI 138 VTR - crushed May 2015
