recommendations for X7 Rack? now fixed

Post by old'uns »

Well it appears the source of my slowly lowering LDS level is the dreaded rack seal :(
from what the garage say it appears that Citroen in their wisdom didn't put a 'boot' on the UJ which then rusts away in sympathy with an old Lancia :-D and the easiest option is a recon rack.

Anyone got a supplier/knows of one/ is one ??

Hi
Had mine done recently, £100 plus return postage try ACS powersteering 01827 259 699. Or. 07762 767 700
acspowersteering.co.uk
If you can get the casting number from your rack so that you can make sure you get the right rack, if you give them the number.

Spoken to 3 companies, 2 local'ish to me which I'd prefer if there are any issues on fitting etc.
Just short of £300 for an AMK recon rack but 2 types which we probably won't know until it goes into garage.
ACS were another one but need the rack for 3 days and is £260 inc.
Jay Gee in Wolves say they can repair the Pinion seal area same day for £105 + dreaded.
Need to speak to garage and whether he can afford to have my car on a ramp for 3 days, x fingers in next week sometime.

Picked car up this morning, so different to the 'Lingo to drive :)
£126 for the repair to pinion seal and shaft, OH did all the running around picking up and dropping back...I owe her bigtime - moving house so new carpets, suite, wardrobes etc
£265 for the garage bill, just need to top up LDS, just enough in as he used last bottles he had.
Also found out why the d/s plastic sill cover has warped.......covered in LDS

In for auto box fluid change in a couple of weeks at specialist round the corner, quick change for now done whilst I wait £70, should keep it rolling for a few more miles.

That leaves auto light sensor to sort out, hard wire dash cam in and try and stop the Parrot kit turning itself on and off
