find a 12volt headlight bulb and connect it to the +ve battery lead and the battery post( or earth lead and car) and remove lead leaving the bulb in series, after the bsi has closed down, any decent glow to the bulb will show a leak.........60watt/12volts = about 5 amps.......
Bob
Will try that tomorrow Bob
Thanks

Try switching the meter on to a lower range, 200ma is probably as low as you want to go.

Very strange, try connecting a 12v bulb in series with it across the battery on the 10 amp range, if the bulb lights but the meter doesn't register the meter must be faulty.

Your meter is open circuit then, either the internal fuse has gone or its duff. I assume you have the leads in the correct sockets.

Are you sure its .01 amps and not 0.1 amps, 10ma seems very low and it certainly will not run your battery down. I would leave the meter connected for a while and check it from time to time. Dont turn anything on with a heavy consumption or you could damage the meter.

Hi
Only getting sporadic internet access, these times, so I'm a long way behind reading the forum.
Looking at the pics and reading the responses, one other thought occurs.
You could have an internal leak, which would not show up on the meter.
As batteries age, sediment falls to the bottom of the cells. Being made up of material lost from the plates, this sediment is conductive, so it will flatten any affected cell(s). This usually results in a single dead cell, with the remaining cells being overcharged and gassing profusely, possibly even bulging the case.
Sometimes, however, not sure why, it causes a battery to fail intermittently.
Could be worth leaving the battery disconnected for a few days and see does it retain charge.
Or better yet, swap batteries between two vehicles and see does the problem migrate with them.
Let us know how you get on

Is this sorted? If not try this. Sit in the van with the key out of ignition switch and listen. Sometimes the intermittent rear wiper goes faulty. You might hear an intermittent click of the wiper powering up (relay). Remove the rear door panels and disconnect the connector to the motors and check again.
