Indicators stopped working
I have lost all use of indicators/hazard lights.
Fuse looks good. Can you tell me which relay is for the indicators?

Re: Indicators stopped working
Green relays are what I'd describe as general/multi-purpose. My money's on the orange one.
I've been inside my indicator relay in the past, but can't remember any more than that

Re: Indicators stopped working
Pretty sure it's the orange one.
Presume this is Xantia? In which case my money is on the haz warning light switch - failure is not unknown, and all power comes via here (there are something like six separate live feeds to the switch ). I might even have a spare....
Having said that - you have checked the fuse? The rear wiper is fed off the same fuse, and failure of the rear wiper can cause a short that melts the fuse as soon as the ignition is switched on. Been there done that....

Re: Indicators stopped working
Thanks guys,
Yes an Xantia II.
I will have a look at the orange one and test the rear wipers to make sure its not the fuse.
Richardw about the hazard light switch - how does one get in to look at that - is it a dashboard removal jobby?

Re: Indicators stopped working
Dont bother with fuses or relays, Id be looking BEHIND the fuse box, for broken internal calbeing..
I mean, the wires will look ok on the outside but the Copper inside will have rotted away and broken up is my guess..
Pull the fuse box down and check for power - you will need to be able to use a Digital Multi Meter to check.
Ive had about Three S2 Xantias with cableing that has gone dead. It will be a thing of finding out which connector on the back of the fuse box supplied the fuse for the Indicators.

Re: Indicators stopped working
Let me make it a bit easier for you... Locate the fuse for the Hazards and indicators, useually on the same fuse, I cant recall which one it is now.
Remove the fuse..
Obtain a length of Jumper wire
Locate a 12v source point, and connect one end of the wire to it.
Press the other end of the wire into one of the fuse leg slots - if not one try the other slot!
This should then proove a broken wire!

Re: Indicators stopped working
Im going to stick my neck out and say DONT bother with it!!
BUT, after this, Im not going to argue my point any more. Ill just wait to see the out come. I HOPE its more simpler then wireing but after the 4 or 5 ive had issue with, wireing Id say.

Re: Indicators stopped working
Ah, presumably the orange one is the wiper delay timer?
Got to worth checking the fuse first, before ripping out the fuse box or flasher relay....
Never heard of the flasher relay giving trouble in this country Addo - perhaps that is a hot country thing - failed wiring at the back of the fuse box much more common over here - usually results in no blower though, rather than no indicators.

Re: Indicators stopped working
Depends which curcuit cabling goes off... ive had one no idicators s1.. another was no rear heated screen but blower worked (s2).. another no indicators (s2) .. but all were wires and needed a jump wire putting in. One was a main feeder to fuse box from engine bay maxi box..

Re: Indicators stopped working
So I jumped in today to start checking things and I can hear the relay switching, but only once or twice, and no lights flashing...
https://flic.kr/p/qY71tR
Rear windscreen wipers work...
I just gave all the relays a wiggle and now the relay is going bananas but still no flashing lights!
https://flic.kr/p/qFxVAj
I pulled the fuse that does the rear window wiper, fuse checks out OK and the socket has 12v...

Re: Indicators stopped working
That second "flic" reminded me that I've had to replace the indicator switch in the past, as it became intermittent in operation (with associated rapid audible ticking) due to internal wear in the indicator switch. Maybe this is the problem, rather than a faulty relay?
