2008 C5 HP Pump

Hi All

I'm new to the forum.
I've run into trouble with my C5 08 tourer 2.0 hdi . For the second time the 40 amp midi fuse has blown. I've drained the fluid and removed the pump and taken the end plate off the motor housing and find the motor brushes are wearing over the end of the armature so I suspect there has been a bit of shorting to the end cover or perhaps the mechanics of the hydraulic pump are heavy/tight and causing the motor to overheat with excess load.
So my question is has anyone stripped out the hp pump on a C5 (X7) and opened it up?.
