new owner
Just bought a 08 nemo it drives well and im impressed with the comfortable drivers position
ive started looking into how to carry out a service etc , so I have a few questions
what engine and gearbox oil should I use?
Also the sumps leaking ..can I replace the gasket with a sealant.?
And there appears to be a rythmic click sound from the pulleys,
also id like to service, clean the egr and turbo., where do I start and has anybody got any photos or a tutorial?
Thanks
also where is the jack and brace?
Sorry so many questions

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
You will need to tell us more about the van before advise can be offered, such as the engine type and size. When I had a Peugeot Partner company van the jack and brace were in a small packet under the driver seat (although it could be under the passenger seat).

Re: new owner
Searched everywhere including the spare wheel for the jack ..cant find it
id like to remove the belt to inspect the pullies but it looks a tight squeeze.will taking the inner arch
out help,ilI have to buy a jack first though
Can anyone talk me through changing the sump, ive crawled underneath there looks to be a stud preventing removal
unless the exhaust is dropped, any help appreciated.
can I use holimar blue alongside the old gasket..or purchase an adhesive as a substitute?

Re: new owner
I cannot offer any more advise. However, my Xantia has an HDi engine, and I use Asdas' own brand fully synthetic oil (it meets the specifications), and is £20 for 5l. Other than that, I cannot help. If you wait, there will be other members with more advise and hints they can offer.
Every so often Lidl (and Aldi) do various car bits, such as 2 tonne trolley jacks and torque wrenches. I check their sites regularly, and when I find a car bits day I post it up on this forum.

Just a thought. On my van the jack (brace and other bits) were in a black rollup case, velcroed in place under the driver seat. Is it possible that you have seen the kit and not recognised it for what it is?

Thanks again...I've bought some oil at halfords mobile 3000..and a cheap trolley jack and some mastic for the sump, they didn't have an oil filter ,when I returned I realised there are lots of different mobile 3000s..ffs....I think I'll just use it and be done with it,I can't believe how complicated it is to buy oil lol

Re: new owner
I've uploaded oil specs and service intervals for your 1.4HDi Nemo to here:
http://www.filedropper.com/nemo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The sump is held on with 16 bolts and 2 nuts, do them all back up to just 10Nm. There's a gasket sealant that joins the two mating surfaces - doesn't look to be anything too specialist, so any good quality sealant that is designed for the job and capable of "sealing of gasket surfaces subject to high-pressure and vibrations - remains flexible after drying" should do the trick.
If you've got a spare wheel as standard, then there should be a jack in the tool pack - but sorry, no clue as to where it's hidden ! If the van didn't come with a spare wheel as standard (and the one you've got was supplied later), then you may not actually have a jack - just a puncture repair kit.
If you want any more info, just shout.

Sadly no longer a C5 owner
Re: new owner
For the sump gasket seal you should use RTV sealant. It is black and get a tube for use in a sealant gun. I got mine from Amazon. Clean the sump face and then apply a continuous bead around the edge just inside the slightly raised line running around the sump mating face. Make sure it's continuous around the holes too. Leave it for 15 minutes to form a slight skin and then refit to engine after also cleaning the bottom face of the block.

Welcome ...here, have a pint ! (image: virtual Cider.jpeg)
just a note about sealant on sumps....DO NOT USE TO MUCH, there really is no need and....if it spills into the sump when you compress it it can block oil ways and pick-ups very easily as it breaks into small lumps in the hot oil.

Re: new owner
Hi Steve
This engine is very similar to the 1.6 HDi, with its well known turbo problems (although the 1.4 seems less afflicted). For oil use ONLY the pukka C2 grade stuff (it's expensive!), and change more often than the recommended intervals.
Sump removal (on the 1.6 anyway!) can be done with the exhaust in place, but access to a couple of the bolts is tight. Once you have undone all the bolts and the two nuts, progressively undo the two studs - they have E4 fittings on the end to allow this - and they have a 'washer' in the middle that acts as a puller to pull the sump away from the block. Whilst the sump is off, remove the oil pickup and clean the strainer in the bottom - if it's heavily fouled, consider ripping it out...
Timing belt (assuming same as 1.6 - no reason to suggest not) is 10 years / 150k - if it's not noisy (squeak at idle) then I would ignore it. Changing it is not that hard - although as you say there may not be much room on a Nemo! Engine mount has to be removed (even to get the covers off) and this makes a lot more room.

Thanks lads that's very helpful ..I'm hoping to do the sump and oil today and intend to get the belt off to track down the noise soon..
Re: new owner
Welcome, enjoy your fish, glad you found him.
As for the Mobil 3000 oil types, don't put just any oil in it, at least check if it will be compatible, these modern engines need specific oil. Sure oil is oil and the grade can be matches, but beyond that there are other additional properties for different types of engines, just don't get it completely off that's all. Get that filter too, try eurocarparts or something.

Re: new owner
Its looks like the plate got distorted when it was fitted which created the leak..around one of the captive studs, I've straightened the tin out and am currently cleaning off all the old mastic, it all appears to be very clean inside the the sump, the oil has a ford rating that appears to be fine..low ash, suitable for particle filters..with the right c and b codes.
Found a very small oil leak where the driveshaft enters the box..just a bit of a stain currently
Any advice welcome

Re: new owner
Well that was fun, I left it for as long as I could as the oil kept dripping over the flange before cleaning with brake cleaner and refitting although I prefer gaskets..I'm not feeling 100℅ about it lol..I'm going to leave it until tomorrow to refill
Even the filter fought tooth and nail against me
At least I've learnt where the dipstick resides
Thanks for all the help a simple task that pushed my patience at times
