Dispatch 2lHDi 110 2006 - had a bit of a fuel issue!

Post by Sean602 »

Ok bit of help, started off for work engine cut off power on first big climb seemed to clear itself , continued into town in stop start traffic occasionally just before gear change the engine would throttle back. When i finally got into the commuter stand still realized there was something seriously amiss - it cut out wouldn't start then lots of smoke. Finally engine caught , Engine management came on - drove to somewhere where it was safe to break down and stopped.
Massive fuel leak on the main line from tank but before filter, Diesel everywhere (£30 worth sprayed all over engine bay) sorted the plumbing - battery died trying to start put a can of diesel in tank & got a jump off workmate, it fired and drove fine - well as fine as could be expected with the diesel fumes off the exhaust and brakes obviously contaminated.

So question to the forum - does the engine management light stay on once a fault has been indicated ? does it need re set by some method? or have i done serious damage to the HP pump when it was starved of fuel? The light is on and doesn't go out.

Having to wait till WE to clean the engine bay and the underside what else should i be checking? how fuel proof is the 6 month old Timing belt :?

(also what have i missed on the forum? i replaced the HD and installed new system in the laptop and forgot to bring over FCF to the new system #-o )

Cheers Sean

It depends on the fault. Some are tagged as permanent, and need to be read and then cleared by use of a Lexia system (details to follow), whereas others are temporary, and will be automatically cleared if the fault has been resolved, and there has been a certain number of engine starts (for example, 5 faultless starts might clear the error).

There are members on the forum who have Lexia clones, and who are willing to help out. The following link has a map and details of such members;

5 faultless starts on the Berlingo 2.0HDi clears errors. I know this from experience with EGR and brake/throttle and fuel system faults.

EOBD alows faults to clear after (I think) 3 clear drive cycles.
Loads of information out there on the topic. It is not Citroen or French car specific.

Look on the bright side, the front of the car shouldn't go rusty. :-D

Hmm wish it were so Peter - sadly the diesel gets in under the stone chip and pu sealant and starts to lift it
