Not Citroen but a tale about tyres. Years ago I sold a new Austin J4 milk float to a lady customer, the tyres were Dunlop 185-14 and she was pretty annoyed when at only 3,000 miles they needed replacing. I consulted the local tyre specialists and they recommended stepping up to 195-14 and fitting Goodyear G8, this got the same result, around another 3,000 miles they were off again.

It was motor show time and while I was their I had a chat with a rep from Michelin, he asked me to make an appointment at my place for his guys to see the vehicle in its loaded state and shortly afterwards two guys turned up, they checked all the steering geometry (all correct) weighed each axle load then left without any comment.

A week later I got a letter from Michelin, their recommendation was to step the tyres down to 165-14 and fit Michelin XC and run them at 36 psi. (the vehicle handbook said 30 psi) do a regular 6000 miles 5 way rotation including the spare. My customer grinned, she hadn't had a single tyre last 4000 miles let alone change them round at 6000

When the customer gave up her business four years later and with 36,000 miles on those Michelins they were still good and legal.

I used to stick cheap tyres on my C5 because I thought it would be more economic because I do 30,000 miles a year but I found the cheapies wore out after around 12-15k.

In the end I went back to the original spec michelins and now they last me around a year so it actually works out about the same cost and I get the piece of mind and safety of having premium tyres which were originally fitted to the car and in my experience are great in the wet, snow and ice.

My advice......always work out overall cost for the mileage you do and seriously think about decent tyres.

I've only used premium tyres on my BX & Xantia over the last 25 years, but alas it doesn't stop an errant screw from writing a new tyre off. I'm sure I would have been less concerned had the new tyre written off been a cheapy.

Yer takes your choice.

I brought 4 dunlops this time last year.. bluresponse .. and had the tracking done

was quite happy until January 2014, when front offside blew (only 2 months old at this point).. as they were my first matching set I brought another tyre..
September , another blowout, same wheel..

hmm.. they seem a good tyre in terms of noise and oadholding, and about £55 per wheel..
I may not buy anymore

I bought Dunlop Blueresponce for the front of my C5 and thought they where great tyres to after having them 6 months that I had to in less tha 4 weeks apart replace both due to punctures in the side walls... the only other time I've had a puncture in the side wall was when some numpty shoved a screw driver into it....

I think it's likely that your numpty has struck again.

Counterfeits maybe? Those Chinese guys make everything from fags to airplane parts, might be worth a check.
