The 2.0 16v is STILL in use, but has been upgraded TWICE John.

Original power when it first came along in 2005 was 139bhp in the C5.. then in the C5 X7 Mk.2 the power got upped to 160bhp from 2009 ... then from 2013 (I think) according to Service Citroen, its been upped to 180bhp! So theres THREE incarnations of the 2.0 16v engine.

The 2.0 16v has learnt from the 2.2. Top ends are completely different designs to the 2.2 made in plastic and the inlet comes away with the injectors in place..

However, so far, Ive heard very LITTLE of issues with the 2,0 16v HDi engine.. so far, and yes, Id have one too!

there were many issues with motorhomes / fiat pug .. this problem and a bad clutch judder.. caused some upset a few years ago..
clutch judder is 28 pages here

if you are bored..

clutch nothing to do with cars though.. although I do remember reading a lot about water ingress into engine bay ..

I haven't watched Watchdog for many years , as it's mainly Daily Mail type hysteria. The Focus was on it a long, long time ago. Probably 2003/4.

Was looking in a builders Vux Vi-.ag-ra today and he was showing me the problem, a BIG lump of absorbent foam that soaked up drips and transfers it neatly and without much loss to a walled collection area with no drainage on the engine that the injectors sit in, lol, it just fills it with water :), really stupid

I just got tap talk :)
My laptop t button don't work Lol have to keep copy pasting t Lol...glad your ok mike and thanks for asking yeah we are good thanks :) you still got the c5? Did you get the hg sorted? I'm not in a position to get another car yet but next few months if you got it be nice to meet you at least :) I'm really looking at early c5 estates though they look great I haddnt looked at them thinking I hate them but I'm sad I'm leaving the xantia love behind as Ive had a strong love and bond with them for a long time, having to defend them to unintelligent people and being proud of it while people thought I was stupid....its deffo a love of mine I want another xantia but I don't want it to end over another huge failure...rather keep the love then hate :) so...the c5 is the way forward basic spec early 2001 8v 2.0...its either that or a synergy or 806? Hahaa haveing little man requires a van but need a bigger vehicle :)
Sorry rabling on Lol!

It's not that C5 Taffy, that went ages ago. I bought Citroënmad Chris' C5 off him back in August but it's not getting much use really. It's good apart from the rear arm bearings and a bent track rod which I'll sort the next few days anyway (the track rod not the arm bearings) . The arms only make noise sometimes. It passed the MOT like that anyway. I think a man of your talents would be able to DIY them. Priced parts up at £38 per side using SKF bearings and genuine Citroen other bits.

I shall vouch for the 16v engine. My current one (maybe not much longer) has a great engine. It's better than my old 2.2 was. Much easier on fuel. It has much more power and a wider power band than the older 2.0 which I have owned in a ulysse, and done many thousands of miles in taxis with a variety of 90 and 110 engines and I forgot my own expert van 110. I would say the most economical one I drove was a 406 90 hdi taxi I was the o lying driver of for a while. However as said the best all rounder is my current one. It's the best pulling one, not the most economical but usually over 50 mpg I ain't complaining.

It may well have been but it also mentioned a few other marques with similar problems.

Although come to think of it,no it wasn't the Focus. The program i watched just a couple of weeks back was all van related, not a car in sight.

Anyone confirm?

Yes I can confirm that. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/article ... nault-vans" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They are essentially all Renault Trafic vans re-badged

Still got the Berlingo Taffy, it's just that the missus has got a job 10 minutes walk from home and we don't really need two cars now. The C5 is getting used now as the Berlingo is down on the South coast with Citronut having some rest and recuperation.

The troublesome engine is the Renault/Nissan M9R. 2.0 dCi either 150 or 175 bhp. Lot's of injectors sticking but they did do away with the cambelt and fit a chain...
