Unheated seats...

Post by centurus2400 »

Well, I suppose there had to be one problem with the new car, and it seems to be the heated seats, both driver and passenger.
Any setting from 1 to 3 and they remain firmly at ambient temperature.

I've checked the 20 amp fuse, which is fine, so my suspicion is simply that the elements have failed.

I've never had heated seats before so I think I can live without them.

This is a very common problem and indeed is broken elements..

Repairing them is not generally successful for long but if you really want them working there are generic elements available that might work...

I've got heated seats but never use them. Very easy to live without

yep, you get hell of a shock from cold leather when your Kilt rides up !, may I suggest that you wear knitted boxer shorts in the winter and avoid the problem :)
As a bonus you will be able to ride on the top deck of a bus when you next visit Edinburgh

I fitted a set of quite low mileage heated leather seats in my C5 and neither of those work either, as Jim says its a very common fault.

Wick is in the north of Scotland not Aberdeen.

Yes Peter, like Carlisle is the north of England, not Manchester, but unfortunately not to the media. (or I suspect, many Brits)
Not a great difference in winter temps though, as Aberdeenshire often dips into the double digit minus figures. (it's the Cairngorms you know)
I was going to say "heated seats, my a*se" ,but that could be taken literally I suppose.

You could always try using biological methane gas to build gas fired heat seats! :rofl2:

I do love a decent Vindaloo but driving in winter with the windows down wouldn't please Her Maj.

Move 30 miles north to the coast qpr. Much less cold here than Inverurie. Which is just as well as my heating still in french mode, I.e. not working:-(

That's good if you are getting things sorted out. Presumably a lot more than 30 miles!!

I think Altnahara is the place with the lowest recorded temperature but its usually nice and warm when we go there. :)
